In light of the COVID-19 pandemic we would like to send you an update about the situation at FAU.

The university board has established a crisis team, which meets every day and the chancellor of FAU constantly keeps all staff and students informed by email and on our website: www.fau.info/corona. (in German AND English)

As to our office, it is closed to the public since Tuesday but we are available by Email and telephone.

Concerning the Digitalisation of the course at the WiSo Nuremberg

WiSo has developed the WiSo-Virtuell concept in reaction to the Corona crisis. This concept provides for WiSo to guarantee the education in these difficult times, even if this means leaving familiar paths. The department assumes that many events will be organised digitally and that they will not be able to take place as classroom events at the university. This situation could last for the whole semester or perhaps only for part of the semester.

The speed of development demands that resources must be concentrated. Although WiSo is very well positioned in the field of e-learning, the radical nature of the change could not be foreseen in advance. Therefore WiSo will not be able to offer all courses. We are improving our offer and resources in such a way that our students can get a reasonable, but reduced offer.

Since face-to-face lectures in the usual form are not possible for the summer semester, we are therefore focusing on e-learning and telecooperative work with WiSo-Virtuell2020. This requires self-learning competencies of the students in a completely new way, but also stimulates them. We support the development of these competences throug specific offers. WiSo-Virtual, despite of all the problems associated with the corona virus, is a chance for us as teachers, as students and as WiSo as a whole to strengthen their digital skills. We support the development of these competences throug specific offers. WiSo-Virtual2020, for despite all the problems associated with the corona virus, is a chance for us as teachers, as students and as WiSo as a whole to evolve together.
